The old quote "There ain't no hills for a stepper"
described Louis Maurin well. He was cited by President
Harry S. Truman for his efforts in selling war bonds.
Enough bonds were sold to buy a B-17 Bomber called "The
Spirit of St. John the Baptist Parish". He was a charter
member of The Reserve Volunteer Fire Dept. He led the way in
the planning and initialization of the waterworks in St.
John and was elected to head the initial Water District #1. He
was also a charter member of the Knights of Columbus, The Reserve
Lions Club, and Woodmen of the World, to which he was named "Outstanding
Woodman" in 1975. He also served on the Parish School Board
and was responsible for the sidewalks in Reserve. He also served
on the St. Peter graveyard committee. |
