NEW ORLEANS
has a garden district,

ST. JOHN PARISH has a
garden district too!

John and Louise together in their back yard!

John and Louise started with a bare lot in LaPlace sixteen years ago. Today they have a garden show place. From the front yard to the back yard. There are hundreds, no thousands, of flowers planted by these two alone.

Louise will tell you, "I just keep planting. Everytime they bring in something new I get it. I just like beauty. This is how you get it, get out here and work and plan and enjoy and it makes other people happy too."

This couples' appreciation of beauty has inspired others. The They have become the neighborhood gardening consultants, people literally stop and ask for ideas!

Louise, "I go over there and show them and tell them and they follow my instructions and as you can see they have a very pretty yard too."

They also change their front yard display with each holiday and season. Their house is on a busy street with a Church and School just a couple blocks away. Many St. John Parish residents benefit from their beautiful yard and decorative displays!

LaPlace is now becoming known as the Garden District, thanks to John and Louise.

"John and Louise are a team, she does the designing, like the sideyard. She calls it the French Quarter garden. He lays the cement for the walk. She cuts the grass in the front yard and he cuts the back yard. Together these seventy year olds know what keeps them going and try to encourage others to do the same."

Thank you John and Louise for the beautiful yard you share with us, and the yard and house decorations you display with each holiday and changing season!
